The STEM Scholars programĀ at Adelphi in New YorkĀ could be for you. This program is designed to help students who are interested in science and mathematics complete their undergraduate degree and become a STEM professionalāeither in the workforce or by attending graduate school.Ā Adelphi is offering a maximum of $15,000 annual scholarships to high-achieving students with demonstrated financial need, funded by a National Science Foundation grant.Ā
The STEM Scholars programāwhich encompasses the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics disciplines and falls under the College of Arts and Sciencesāsupports underserved undergraduate students who complete a degree in STEM and prepares them to move into the STEM workforce or pursue a graduate degree.
Here are key aspects of the program:
As a STEM Scholar, you are eligible for up to $15,000 per year of STEM scholarship support for up to four years on top of any Adelphi scholarships. The total scholarship is based on unmet need, as determined by the FAFSA.
STEM Scholars will acquire important research skills through two summers of paid research fellowships with Adelphi faculty. The research fellowship will be equivalent to full-time work for 10 weeks.
STEM Scholars receive support to attend at least two conferences during their undergraduate career.
Mentorship is a critical aspect for STEM studentsā success. All scholars will have a peer mentor to help them integrate into the campus community. In addition, alumni mentors will help you Ā Ā prepare for their careers after Adelphi. Faculty mentors will help you successfully navigate the academics required for a career in STEM.
As a STEM Scholar, you will participate in workshops to learn about careers in STEM and prepare for graduate school or the STEM workforce.
