What Can You Do With a Degree in Environmental Studies?
As an interdisciplinary social science, you鈥檒l gain important skills and knowledge applicable to many different professional fields. For example, natural resource technicians and conservation managers are employed to study, monitor, and preserve wildlife and plants in parks and on public land.
There are also many opportunities in the expanding 鈥済reen economy,鈥� including public and private sector non-profit organizations, policy developers and analysts, or in academia as environmental social scientists. You could also pursue a career as a middle school or high school earth science teacher.
In this degree program, you鈥檒l gain valuable technical skills using geographic information systems (GIS), experience that is currently in high demand in many fields from politics to city planning or land management professions.
This program is STEM-designated offering specialized training in high-demand fields and eligible international students can extend their OPT to 36 months.

Minor & Degree Options
Recognizing the interplay of technology, culture, economics and politics involved in the issues facing the future of our planet, we take an interdisciplinary approach to environmental studies. We give our environmental studies students a solid grounding in the natural and social sciences, allowing them to focus on the areas they wish to pursue.
Minor in Environmental Studies
The environmental studies minor at Adelphi offers students from every major a basic grounding in the scientific, technical, social and cultural issues presented by the interaction of human beings with their environment and the need to build a more environmentally sustainable future.
Accelerated Environmental Studies Program
This exciting 4+1 accelerated environmental studies program gives students a solid foundation in climate and environmental studies, with a particular emphasis on human adaptations to climate change and environmental degradation or topics like green energy or promoting environmentally-friendly societies.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Undergraduate Education has awarded 麻豆直播 and聽Principal Investigator聽Andrea Ward, PhD, associate provost for research and special projects, a $2.49 million grant for the 鈥淓nsuring STEM Student Success Through an Integrative Support Program.鈥�
As part of my STEP training, I taught a course to Adelphi undergrads that examined sustainable initiatives through social, economic and environmental lenses. I loved engaging students from diverse backgrounds in hands-on activities that asked them to think critically about their impact on the environment.

I spent the past two summers doing fieldwork alongside my professors in the Matanuska and Tanana valleys in Alaska. It made me realize how much I want to do this work professionally.
