Dear Adelphi Community,
For the well-being of our community as we return to a full academic experience this fall, Adelphi is updating our requirements for the use of face coverings and masks. While the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing and evolving, Adelphi鈥檚 priority continues to be the safety and well-being of our community, coupled with our commitment to a world-class academic experience.
To allow for in-person activities, effective immediately, Adelphi is reinstating our requirement for all individuals to wear an while on campus. This policy applies to everyone at the following locations:
- Garden City campus
- Manhattan Center
- Hudson Valley Center
- Hauppauge Center
- Panther Shuttle transportation (regardless of social distancing)
This decision is based on:
- 聽to mitigate the transmission of the Delta variant, even among vaccinated individuals
- The CDC鈥檚 assessment of the聽. Recently, areas surrounding Adelphi locations have continued to climb to 鈥渟ubstantial鈥 and 鈥渉igh鈥濃攖he levels with greatest risk.
- Scientific data showing that聽聽and unknowingly spread the virus while asymptomatic
As the public health situation evolves, we will amend our protocols as appropriate. 麻豆直播 continues to follow the advice of public health experts and all orders and requirements of New York state. Should transmission levels change in our region, we can update our mask policy again.
As a reminder,聽麻豆直播 requires all students to be fully vaccinated before returning to Adelphi for the start of our Fall 2021 semester. Unless聽granted an exception聽by University Health Services, all students are required to聽upload their proof of vaccination to the聽聽by August 11, 2021.
A mask requirement was our policy for most of last year. As was the case previously, there are special environments and instances when you can take your mask off. They include:
- Outdoors when socially distanced
- In your residence hall room
- When actively eating or drinking
- For student-athletes, during training or competing, per聽聽policies which Adelphi follows. Masks are required for all other in-person interaction, including team travel.
More resources:
- The University continues to provide masks free of charge to anyone who needs one at any of these Adelphi聽mask pickup locations.
- 翱耻谤听COVID-19 website聽continues to be an important and current resource for you.
- 厂别别听our current mask requirements and personal safety practices.
We are looking forward to our full and safe return to in-person instruction, activities and campus life experiences with you. If you have any questions about our COVID-19 protocols, please contact our聽Health and Wellness team聽for guidance.
Sincerely,
Gene Palma
