Honor Societies and National Organizations

Alpha Sigma Lambda Pi: An Honor Society in Communication Disorders

Undergraduates who have completed their junior year with an overall GPA of 3.8 or better will be invited into this prestigious honor society with faculty approval of professional dispositions. Students will be recognized at a special annual gathering.

National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA)

The National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is a national organization for students interested in speech-language pathology, audiology, and related health and education fields. Adelphi’s local chapter of NSSLHA is a vibrant community of students who meet bimonthly to discuss academic, clinical, and professional issues. Enjoy special events and fundraise for charities including our own Hy Weinberg Center for Communication Disorders.

Open to all students, NSSLHA welcomes members from any discipline, not just those studying speech-language pathology or audiology.

National Black Association for Speech, Language and Hearing (NBASLH)

The National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing NBASLH (pronounced ¾±²Ôâ‹…b²¹³ó³úâ‹…l²¹) sets the standard for fostering diversity, promoting cultural fluency, and advocating for social justice within the realms of speech, language, and hearing. NBASLH’s Â鶹ֱ²¥ student affiliate is a great opportunity for socializing, networking, mentorship, and professional growth!

Open to all graduate and undergraduate speech-language pathology or audiology students who support equity and inclusion in the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, not just for students of color.

Student-led Clubs

American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf Culture Club

Students in the American Sign Language (ASL) Club bring awareness of Deaf Culture and ASL to Â鶹ֱ²¥â€™s vast community. The club highlights and discusses issues facing the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities, as well as practices American Sign Language together for communication and artistic expression.
