How to Apply to Adelphi as an International Student

You can choose to apply as a standard entry applicant in the following ways:

  • – For a student who is attending a university or college for the first time. You must be completing your country’s pre-university education (equivalent to U.S. 12th grade) before arriving for the fall/spring semester.
  • – For a student who has attended another university or college, but has not yet completed theirÌýdegree. Transfer students may have earned credits to be evaluated.
  • – For a student who has completed their bachelor’s degree and would like to earn their master’s or doctoral degrees.

Important Dates

If there is no listed date within your acceptance letter, we recommend submitting your deposit andÌýI-20 applicationÌýby December 15 for the spring semester or July 15 for the fall semester.

Applications received after the November 1 and March 1 priority dates listed above will be considered on a space-available basis.

Application Fee

Adelphi’s nonrefundable application fee is $50 for undergraduate study and $60 for graduate study.

Early Action

Students applying for Early Action are among the first students considered for a wide range of generous scholarships.

In some cases, the Admissions Committee may defer making a final decision until a candidate’s midterm grades and additional scores have been received, or until a personal interview takes place.

Early Action is non-binding.

Required Materials for Applicants

  1. A completed undergraduate application for admission: We’ll accept either the Adelphi Application or the Common Application – whichever is easier for you!
  2. Nonrefundable application fee of $50:ÌýApplicants who apply online can pay this feeÌýwith a credit card or electronic check. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Â鶹ֱ²¥ and drawn on a U.S. bank. (International money orders are not accepted.)
  3. Personal statement or essay: You are encouraged to submit, in 500 words or less, a response to one of the provided questions or a topic of your choice. If preferred, you may submit a report or paper you have written during the current school year.
  4. Academic records: Undergraduate applicants are required to submit official secondary school/university records directly to Â鶹ֱ²¥. One set of records should be in your native language and one set translated into English. The submission and translation of all required documents and fees are entirely the applicant’s responsibility. Photocopies are not acceptable without an official school stamp or seal. Undergraduate transfer applicants must submit all official transcripts and course descriptions for all institutions of higher education attended.
  5. SAT/ACT orÌýEnglish proficiency exam (TOEFL, IELTS, or DET) scores:
    • If submitting SAT or ACT scores: Scores can be submitted via your official high school transcript, or directly from the appropriate educational testing service. For students intending to enroll in the Learning Resource Program, SAT scores are highly suggested. Students who have obtained a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or who have been out of high school for one year or more will not be required to take the SAT (unless specifically requested).

All academic records should be sentÌýdirectlyÌýto our office by your previous school. If you wish to submit transcripts on behalf of your previous institution, they must be official and bear the school’s stamp or seal.

Undergraduate international students are eligible for merit, talent and athletic scholarship consideration. Portfolio reviews and auditions are required for students interested in talent awards.

We review all undergraduate applicants for scholarship recommendation once a complete application is submitted. There is no separate scholarship application. You will be notified whether you have received a scholarship within three weeks after receiving your acceptance letter.

The Robert B. Willumstad School of Business, Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology and the College of Professional and Continuing Studies graduate programs will consider three-year Indian degrees for graduate admission. YourÌýthree-year degree is deemedÌýequivalent to a USA Bachelor’s degree if it is earned at a college or university rated “A†or higher by theÌýNational Assessment and Accreditation CouncilÌý(NAAC), and providedÌýyou graduateÌýFirst Class.

All other programs require four years of study equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree as determined by the Office of International Admissions and as confirmed by a NACES-approved evaluationÌýservice.
