Hone your skills and boost your confidence in our health and physical education fieldwork internship courses, which include opportunities for those without a current teaching certificate to student-teach full time alongside a cooperating teacher, supervised by an Adelphi faculty member. Placements are available both in New York City and on Long Island, allowing you to tailor the experience to your needs, goals and schedule.

Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following:
- Graduate application and $60 fee
- Online survey completed by two recommenders
- Personal essay
- Official transcripts from all prior institutions and proof of bachelor鈥檚 degree from an accredited four-year institution
- R茅sum茅 (preferred)
All teacher certification candidates must take and pass New York State Teacher Certification Examinations (NYSTCE) required for their particular area of certification, which includes the Content Specialty Test in both Physical Education and Health Education.

Graduate classes for the health and physical education program are offered Monday through Thursday evenings throughout the year, allowing you to move through the program more quickly. Adelphi offers rolling admission, which means that you have the option of starting the dual degree program at five different points throughout the year (fall semester, January Intersession, spring semester, or May or July sessions). Once you are admitted, you鈥檙e ready to go!
Yes, you will be able to apply to work in specific districts. For those who already work in schools, our team at Adelphi will help you work with your school鈥檚 administration to create a schedule that will allow you聽 to complete your fieldwork hours during your downtime in the school day. Students who already have an initial New York State teacher license do not need to student teach.
